Hellebores are one of the earliest spring flowers, often blooming through the snow. These resilient, unusual flowers represent serenity. Also in this bouquet are Eucalyptus, know for strength and protection, and Allium, which is a symbol of good luck and new endeavors.

This image is part of the original series, Vernal Equinox, a collaboration between ARCH and MERINDA. The series is inspired by the moment in the year when the sun is exactly above the equator and day and night are equal in length. The images celebrate the juxtaposition of light and dark and the inevitable return of longer days, filled with sunshine and blooms.

Each image is a kaleidoscope of florals, a perfect symmetry of nature and a reminder of new beginnings and the rebirth that is spring. Vernal Equinox was photographed by Erin McCarthy in Wilmette, IL, in February 2023.
